Annual Labor Day Mackinac Bridge walk expected to attract nearly 40,000
On Monday, lead by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, nearly 40,000 people are expected to make the walk from St. Ignace to Mackinaw City across the Mackinac Bridge. 2016 marks the 59th year of this annual Labor Day tradition.
The 5th longest suspension bridge in the world, the Mackinac Bridge opened to traffic in 1957 and now accommodates nearly four million vehicle crossings each year.
