The University of Michigan School of Dentistry engaged Granger as the Construction Manager for a major expansion project called Blue Renew.

Constructed in 1940 and 1969, the W. K. Kellogg Institute and Dental Building is home to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, one of the oldest and most highly ranked dental schools in the nation. This project included renovation of approximately 176,000 SF and addition of 48,000 SF, with all work taking place within and adjacent to the occupied facility.

  • The multiphase project addressed deferred maintenance and provided comprehensive infrastructure improvements.
  • Renovations created a more welcoming and accessible new patient entrance, new modem teaching clinics including a special care clinic to treat patients with complex medical conditions and disabilities, new flexible research space to support the school’s world class research, and student collaboration space.
  • The work also included a new four-story addition, with two floors dedicated to research laboratories.
  • An open, adaptable lab floorplan facilitates collaboration among researchers, and graduate students, research assistants and faculty have more common write-up spaces and break areas where they can easily meet to discuss existing projects and inspire new ideas.
